BRAINBOOST - Longevity
For hundreds of thousands of years, humans lived as hunter-gatherers. Our bodies evolved for a life where movement was part of everyday life, food wasn’t always readily available, and comfort was the exception rather than the rule.
Our environment has changed at lightning speed. We spend hours behind screens, take the car, have food delivered and barely need to be physically active anymore.
At the same time, we’re seeing a sharp rise in chronic conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
So naturally, we’re looking for solutions. More exercise? Less sitting? A balance ball at the office? Vitamins and supplements? Cold showers? 10,000 steps a day? Or should we focus primarily on building and maintaining muscle strength?
‘Longevity’ is booming, but what actually helps us stay healthy, strong and independent for longer - and what is simply clever marketing?
⚠️ Please note: this BrainBoost will be held in Dutch.

No quest for eternal life, but a down-to-earth look at the science behind healthy ageing.
Because… sitting may not literally be the new smoking, but our modern lifestyle doesn’t always fit that well with the bodies we’ve got.
