De Hoorn as a Flanders Heritage Venue
Flanders Heritage Venues - A Unique Experience
Flanders is bursting with culture and offers a wealth of historic venues. Yet only the most unique places have been awarded the Flanders Heritage Venue label. So, what does this label entail? The Flanders Heritage Venues network was established to position Flanders internationally as a top destination for experiential conferences and events. Only the most unique venues that meet specific criteria are granted this recognition.
There are currently 32 meeting venues in Flanders and Brussels, and yes, De Hoorn is one of them!
What does it take to be recognized as a Flanders Heritage Venue?
First, as the name suggests, the venue must be located in Flanders. After all, the label is meant to put Flanders on the international map. 😉
Beyond location, the experience and quality of each venue are important factors. Initially, the network focused exclusively on venues with significant historical value. However, since 2023, venues offering a unique experience are also eligible for the quality label. This means that not only heritage sites but also other special locations with a unique experience can qualify. Every venue must prioritize sustainability, accessibility, and innovation, and meet certain international standards, such as having an English website and well-trained staff.
Finally, these venues should accommodate a wide range of activities and events, from conferences and exhibitions to music concerts and more. Modern facilities are carefully integrated to enhance functionality without compromising its historical character. Visitors don’t just attend an event—they are immersed in the ambiance of the past. In addition to hosting conferences, these venues often serve as vibrant community hubs for local residents.
De Hoorn: one of the first Flanders Heritage Venues
De Hoorn has been part of the Flanders Heritage Venues network since its inception in 2018, along with other iconic venues such as The Botanic in Antwerp and Het Predikheren in Mechelen. What makes De Hoorn so unique is its rich history as the former Stella Artois brewery, now reinvented as a dynamic event venue where creativity and innovation take center stage.
The blend of historical character and modern facilities creates a seamless connection between the past and the present, making De Hoorn a unique location for all types of gatherings. Events are hosted in spaces such as the Machine Room (Heritage Room) and the Brewing Room, where the first Stella was brewed over a century ago. Visitors are quite literally surrounded by the history of this iconic brewery.
Moreover, De Hoorn is easily accessible for both national and international visitors, making it an ideal venue for conferences. Our doors are not only open to corporate congresses and private events but also to the local community. Residents can enjoy a meal in our Bar & Resto, join our summer afterwork parties, or take part in guided tours during special occasions like Heritage Day.
De Hoorn brings people, stories, and history together in a unique way. Come and discover for yourself why, as a Flanders Heritage Venue, we are a place that never ceases to surprise and inspire!
